Ingredients (The 5 Elements)
4 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
8 slices deli ham (turkey ham works perfectly too)
4 to 8 slices Swiss cheese (with the classic holes, just like in
image_dd9225.jpg)1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup (or cream of mushroom)
1 cup stuffing mix (like Stove Top) or seasoned breadcrumbs melted with 2 tbsp of butter (for that classic crispy top layer).
Instructions
Layer the Chicken: Place your raw chicken breasts flat in the bottom of a greased slow cooker.
The "Cordon Bleu" Stack: Just like you see in
image_dd9225.jpg, layer 2 slices of ham on top of each chicken breast, and top each one with a slice of Swiss cheese.Add the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk the cream of chicken soup with a splash of milk or water just to loosen it up, then pour it evenly around and over the chicken layers. This keeps everything incredibly juicy.
The Crispy Top: Sprinkle the stuffing mix or breadcrumbs evenly across the very top, and drizzle with a little melted butter.
Cook: Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours (or HIGH for 2 to 3 hours) until the chicken is tender and fully cooked through.
